Your Cable Store stopped selling products directly through our website sometime ago to concentrate almost exclusively on selling through Fulfillment By Amaozn. Since then we have maintained our website for informational purposes and until around December 20th 2017 we used to provide links to our products for sale on Amazon. However I pulled those links after several attempts to monetize that traffic by signing up for for the Amazon associates program resulted in a denied application. The reason given was that our blog has not been updated since early 2015.

Based on the short time our last associates account was active (17 days) we had 373 clicks on our associates links, 130 orders were shipped, 36.73% conversion rate and we helped generate $4,746.96 in sales for Amazon. Our earnings were $139.46, mostly thanks to a $2,100 order for LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 31313 Robot Kit for Kids (something I might need to consider purchasing for my daughter) and $640 purchase for our Sendt Master Keyed Lock 10 pack. I don’t understand why our blog has to be updated in order to qualify for a associates account given the high quality traffic we are directing to Amazon but according to Amazon regularly updating our blog may result in our next application being approved so here I am with our first post in 3 years.

My plan is to post some old articles that are marked as pending never actually published for some reason, small articles, blurbs, links to Amazon products that I think are cool or have found useful in the past along with links to other articles several times a week for 2-3 weeks and apply again along with adding links to our Amazon products back to our website (with our new associates ID of course).

I don’t know if that will be good enough but it is worth a shot and could result in $75 – $200 a month in income from Amazon Associates. It isn’t much but it will be enough to mostly pay our our 3dcart and Blue Host bills.

CES – Las Vegas, NV

CES 2015
This year marks our inaugural attendance at CES. As we continue to grow, we are always on the lookout for potential new products or higher quality cables.

Our first impressions of CES are that it is a huge event and full of sensory overload. CES requires that you wade through booths upon endless booths of different companies and manufacturers pitching their products. While it is easy to be distracted by areas that offer exciting events such as drones flying around, we did our best to stay focused on the cables.

Who’s ready for a YCS Basics drone?

In walking the show floor, we did have a chance to check out some of the latest news on both HDMI and MHL. In particular, we asked about the new HDMI 2.0 and the new MHL 3.0 specification. We will definitely be looking into carrying HDMI 2.0 cables, however, unless you plan on running 4K resolution at 60 FPS you may not need this cable yet. We will also be looking at MHL 3.0 cables this year. The best thing about both of these though is that they are all backward compatible with previous specs so they will continue to work with most current devices.

While we did get to see the new Type C USB connector, perhaps the most abundant type of cable that we saw was the lightning cable for Apple products. There was no shortage of color and style.

We paid attention to make sure the cables were MFi certified and were quality cables. The last photo above was particularly interesting due to the fact that it uses a reversible Type A USB connector. We just started dipping our toes into lightning cables but what kind of lightning cables would you want for you? Cables that have both micro USB and lightning plugs? Lightning cables that are flat? Or how about cables that light up and go fast when your phone is charging and slows down and shuts off when your phone is charged? What about color? Would you want the standard white or would you prefer to have all the colors of the rainbow available to you? Drop us a line and let us know!

Blue 6 foot flat USB micro cable
Today we have a blue 6-foot USB 2.0 flat micro USB cable. The cable is easy to coil and because it is flat it is not prone to tangling. So why flat? Personally, I have found flat cables to be quite useful due to their flatness. For example, I have my car USB charger in the center console of my car: Read on »
