Why Bother To Return?

Just how free are free returns?

While perusing social media, I came across an article from Psychology Today that really spoke to me. The article, Are You Too Lazy to Complain? specifically addressed the lackadaisical approach that e-commerce customers take when it comes to returning an item that was deemed faulty. All too often the return process is seen as too much of a hassle and not worth the effort when the price of the item is under a certain price threshold.

Working in customer service, I have personally witnessed how pervasive that mindset is. The time involved, the effort involved, and the often anticipated headache of dealing with customer service causes many customers to accept the whole experience as a loss. Thus, the return process is often perceived as a convoluted mess that has the consumer jumping through too many hoops; especially in the cases where the item or items only cost them a few dollars.

We offer a no-hassle free return policy that makes an earnest effort in trying to make the whole process as painless as possible for our customers.

Is there still effort involved? Yes. Will it still take up some of your time? Yes. However, we can help eliminate the headache you anticipate with customer service and have streamlined our steps to make it as effortless and quick as possible.

So why should you return something you paid less than $5 dollars for when your time might be worth more than that?

Probably the most important reason for contacting us is to make sure that you received the correct item and that you are using it correctly. From time to time we hear about customers who purchased a 9-pin to 15-pin VGA adapter in the hopes of connecting a serial (RS232) device to their laptop. However, most laptops no longer have serial connections and the 15-pin slot is actually a SVGA / VGA port that is used only for video.

Or we will hear about a customer who purchased a 3 conductor extension cable to use with their 4 conductor earbuds that came with their smartphone. The two items are incompatible and will mimic a defective cable with distorted sounds, reduced volume, and one of the sound channels missing.

4 conductor vs 3 conductor

Do you know the difference?

As a result, we often help steer our customers toward the correct item that they need even if we do not currently carry it.

If it is an issue that cannot be resolved, then a return may be your best option. We want to make sure that you are 100% happy with your purchase and if for whatever reason you are not, all you need to do is ask for a return and the rest is easy. Wouldn’t it be nice to get your $5 bucks back so you can use it to purchase a cable that will work for you?

So how do I return the item?

  1. Contact us and simply state that you want to return the item. Feel free to contact us to ask any technical question before requesting a return to see if there is some aspect that is missing from your setup.
  2. We will send you a prepaid shipping label via e-mail along with instructions.
  3. Feel free to reuse the same packaging your item shipped in, place the new shipping label over the old one and make sure to tape up the packaging properly.
  4. Send back your package.

Your return will be processed within 1 business day of being received and your method of payment will be credited back the same day.

So what happens if there’s a hiccup?

What happens if you live in such a remote area that it would be impossible to drop off the package anywhere? What if you do not have an e-mail address or you have no means to print the return label? No worries! We can mail you the return label.

Returns: They’re not so bad!

The thing is, you will never know until you ask. Our goal is to make your experience shopping with us be a positive one and we would rather see you happy with the right cable or with a refund instead of resigning yourself to the notion that the effort to return your purchase may not be worth it. You have more to gain than to lose.

Don’t be shy! Give us a call if you have any issues and we promise to make the process as smooth and effortless as possible.
