The Weekly Worthy List #2: Dream Equipment

If you are a musician and if you are NOT filthy rich, then the chances are pretty good that you have had a “dream gear” list for as long or longer than you’ve been playing. These fantasies are good to entertain, I’ve noticed that I’ve actually checked off a few items on my list, like the Gibson Firebird 7 and a Fender Twin Reverb…but the dream list is greedy by nature…so let it all out…if a gold plated 30 piece drum kit is your heart’s desire…SO BE IT!!!

Here is my ever evolving list, I think most of these items have actually been manufactured at some point, if not…hey, it is a dream list. Please feel free to share your list in our comments!

  1. 1959 Les Paul Guitar
1959 Les Paul with 3 pickups and a bigsby tremolo. This is a huge bucket list items for me. I have dreamt about this guitar since I was 6 or 7!

  2.

  3. Ampeg V-4
Ampeg V-4 Stack or combo. I would immediately plug a Tele into this…..tune to open G and play Tumblin’ Dice….oh yeah.
  4.

  5. 1965 Fender Dual Showman
1965 Fender Dual Showman set up. Tone and mojo for DAYS!
  6.

  7. 1960s Fender reverb unit
1960s Fender reverb unit. I would go surf-wild with this and the Showman!
  8.

  9. 1966 Gretsch White Falcon
1966 Gretsch White Falcon. No explanation necessary? All of us California boys like the twang and the “White Falcon Fuzz.” (see Mother Hips song)
  10.

  11. 1970s Tele Thinline
1970s Tele Thinline with humbuckers and a Bigsby. I gots to have that bigsby! Yes I am greedy…
  12.

  13. Early model Martin D-28
Early model Martin D-28. I do not think I would ever put it down.
  14.

  15. Cherry Gibson ES 355 with Bigsby
Cherry Gibson ES 355 with Bigsby. This body style is so comfy to me…I need it.
  16.

  17. 1970s Guild S-100
    Wine Red 1970s Guild S-100 with “G” Bigsby. I have a red one…super versatile.
  18.

  19. 1960s Gibson Hummingbird
1960s Gibson Hummingbird. Could I play this and the Martin at the same time?
  20.

  21. Mid 60s Ludwig drum kit
Mid 60s Ludwig drum kit, seems like a good starter kit 😉
  22.

  23. Hammond B-3 with a Leslie cabinet
Hammond B-3 with a Leslie cabinet. I’d use that Leslie on my other instruments too. I would learn Whiter shade of pale note for note right out of the gate…
  24.

  25. 1940's Gibson Mandolin
1940’s Gibson Mandolin. I love to play mandolin, but I won’t quit my day job.
  26.

  27. 1960s Fender P-Bass
1960s Fender P-Bass. (Orange, Avocado, or Sea Foam Green) I am not the greatest bass player, but hey, it’s fun to play on the bottom!
  28.

  29. Fender Rhodes Piano
Fender Rhodes Piano, I imagine this would sound good through the Showman or Ampeg?
  30.

Wild Card Item:
Sho Bud pedal steel guitar
Double “neck” Sho Bud pedal steel guitar…TWANG!!!

The list could be one thousand pages long, but we’ll probably make this a recurring theme in the months and years to come. Let’s see your list…don’t be shy!
